Decorated Australian Soldier Faces War Crime Murder Charges
Australia's most-decorated living soldier, Ben Roberts-Smith, has vowed to fight five war crime murder charges in his first public statement since being arrested last week. The Victoria Cross recipient, released on bail on Friday, rejected every claim against him and said he would use the legal proceedings as an chance to "finally" restore his reputation. Roberts-Smith, 47, is accused of participation in the deaths of unarmed Afghan detainees between 2009 and 2012, either by killing them directly or instructing his personnel to do so.
